Papillion II, owned by Les Playle, was the overall winner in the South Devon Cruising Racing Association series of racing.
And as well as being presented with the overall trophy, the crew of Papillion II were also presented with a new prize sponsored by Hyde Sails – for turning up to every race throughout the season.
The association has had a successful if challenging year of sailing with mixed conditions from a lack of wind causing races to be shortened to too much for some of the competitors.
The year started with the now annual Spring Regatta hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club and Brixham Yacht Club where competitors enjoyed some good courses and conditions.
The season of weekends away started in May with the hugely successful Salcombe weekend where boats took part in a feeder race from Brixham, racing in Salcombe Bay and then a race back to Dartmouth.
The highlight of the year however was the annual Rodney Moorhouse Offshore Week which took place in June with prizes of a Seiko watch for the winners of the IRC and Progressive classes. An overnight crossing to Guernsey was undertaken by 15 yachts from Teignmouth, Torquay, Brixham and Plymouth before they continued on to Jersey and North Brittany.
There was also a full complement of coastal races, sponsored by Pedros Yacht Refinishing.
Thanks to all the sponsors including Rodney Moorhouse Jewellers, Westaway Sails, Hyde Sails, Pedros Yacht Refinishing and Peplows Accountants.
